With the aim of Promoting the welfare of the orphan child and female victims of sexual violence as well as arts and culture, the Obi Ikenchukwu Foundation was founded by Princess Genevieve Ikenchukwu in 2014.

This is the first edition of our monthly newsletter which would be informing you of our various past, present and upcoming activities aimed at promoting our cause. For the past two years, OIF has been holding an annual Seminar/Cocktail at the Civic Centre, Lagos with the support of various individuals and organisations. The event is aimed at empowering and educating young and adult females in the society and following the death of Sarah Ibikunle, a child street hawker who was shot during a robbery incident in Lekki, Lagos in March, 2015, we were able to emphasize the importance of our cause.

On the 2nd of December,2016, OIF had it’s 2nd annual seminar/cocktail themed “Child Street Hawking- a Menace and a Curse – the way forward?” and some of the speakers at the event include Mrs Dayo Keshi (Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture), Mr. Emeka Oparah (Director and Vice President corporate communications, Airtel Nigeria) and Honourable Mrs. Lola Akande (Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State.

Princess Genevieve also gave the welcome address which emphasised the need for the younger generation to be connected to their culture as a disconnect from culture will result in lack of identity. There were also performances by the students of HoneyLand College, Lagos and the Sirpresh Dance Troup from the Delta State University.

OIF will like to use this medium to thank our various speakers (including Dr. Newton Jibunor and Mr. Larry Osai) and guests for attending. We would also like to thank our partners; Tolaram Group, Tolaram Foundation, The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and Sceptre Legal Services for collaborating with us to make the event a success.

Our 3rd annual seminar/cocktail will hold on the 2nd of November, 2017 and we would be celebrating the African Woman and the influence of CULTURE on her role in the home and the society at large.

You can anchor a beautiful mind to realising his/her dream by giving hope to a child today. #offthestreetsintotheclassrom. Please be a part of the OIF dream by supporting our cause.
